The Trial Observation training was organized to build the capacities of 21 lawyers and human rights defenders, who were recruited from different MENA regions.
The training was held in Jordan on two days Wednesday and Thursday 30 &31 March 2016. The seminar aimed to provide practical skills on how to conduct trial observations, assess, analyze information and data obtained, and draft a final trial observation report.
Dr. Khouloud AlKhatib trained on the general international, regional, and national legislative framework within which courts operate, especially ICCPR, Arab Charter, constitution, and national laws, then she discussed the challenges that we face in our region. She shed the light on the compliance with the international rule of law and human rights standards, the components and the guarantee of fair trial, and observing proceedings within the courtroom.
